Angele Ellis is the author of Spared, a runner-up in the 2010 Main Street Rag Poetry Chapbook contest, scheduled for publication in Winter or Spring 2011; Arab on Radar (Six Gallery Press, 2007), and co-author of the diversity workbook Dealing With Differences (Corwin Press, 1997). A 2008 recipient of an Individual Creative Artist fellowship from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, her work has appeared in Grey Sparrow, Mizna, Grasslimb, THEMA, Encyclopedia Destructica, Oysters and Chocolate, Rune, yawp, Pittsburgh City Paper, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, The New People, and the anthologies Come Together: Imagine Peace, Natural Language, and Voices from the Attic. She received third prize in RAWI’s 2007 Competition for Creative Prose, and in December 2007 was RAWI’s featured poet. In September 2009, she won Pittsburgh Filmmakers’ G-20 Haiku Contest; her haiku was displayed on the marquee of Pittsburgh’s Harris Theatre for the duration of the G-20 summit.
